THE THEATER AS EDUCATIVE - EDUCATIONAL GOOD AND ARTISTIC EXPRESSION IN THE EDUCATION AND THE SOCIETY

Abstract: 

The aim of this project is to carry out research covering all aspects of the theatre. Data collected and recorded will be used in the formation of new proposals contributing to the cultural growth of society. Taking into consideration the findings of relevant Greek and foreign literature with the collaboration of scientists and researchers from different disciplines and cognitive fields, it will approach, analyze and utilise the theatre as a cultural phenomenon of universal potential.

It comprises four compatible thematic fields.

  1. The first is "The Culture of Spectacle and Knowledge: the Theatre as Cultural System and Good", concerned with the social dimension of the theatre.
  2. The second is "œTheatre Education and Teacher Training in Life Long Learning", concerned with the needs for teacher training in theatre related subjects within the context of Life Long Learning.
  3. The third is "œTechniques and Theatre Codes in Teaching Literature based on the work of Evgenios Trivizas", developing around the innovative proposal of applying the theatre as teaching methodology in education.
  4. The fourth is "œTheatre: Intercultural and Multicultural Education. The Psycho-pedagogic Role of the Theatre in Shaping the Personality of Underaged Audiences" and regards issues about the formation of personality of young audiences and how a new awareness can be encouraged via the theatrical experience.

Experiential applications in the form of workshops, pioneering research and innovative actions in the form of doctoral theses, post- doctoral research, audiovisual digital productions and publications of research conclusions will be included. This is a joined venture of the University of Athens, the University of Thrace and the University of Crete with their corresponding faculties, as well as three professors from foreign universities, Sylvie Jouanny, University of Paris XII Creteil, France, Fabio Tolledi, University of Salento, Italy and Antonio Melero-Bellido, University of Valencia, Spain.
